We are presenting open-source icon repositories for use with the Ribbon Commander framework. Obviously, the icons can also be used as Excel clipart or with any desktop publishing software.
Most of the icon collections listed below are free and open source. That means they are free to use, modify, and redistribute, without any cost. They can be used for commercial and non-commercial (personal) projects or products, royalty free.
In most cases, the only requirement is that they remain free and open source, and you have to give credit where credit is due. So if you use the icons in your project, you have to offer the icons or any derivatives of the icons with the same free/open license.
Please read the licence included with each collection. In addition to license documents, source and license data may be written as metadata inside icon or image files.

Photo metadata may include the information about the camera that created the photo, along with exposure information and various descriptive details about it. Some metadata are written by the camera and some may be created by the photographer or icon designer using PC software such as Adobe Photoshop. A popular free software for reading, writing and manipulating most types of image metadata is the ExifTool. |
The amount of disk space needed to hold a reasonable amount of metadata information about an image takes up surprisingly little space (a few kilobytes), as it's mostly plain text. You may want to consider erasing non-essential metadata, if icon file size should be minimized.
